CONTRACTS
A very wise writer once said that a contract was a weapon publishers and agents use to strangle the life from an author - to
make sure that the author is left gasping for breath, naked, and wishing that he had taken up a different profession.
If you have ever published with the so called 'big name publishers' you would know what this writer meant. Contracts are a
facade to insure the investor of high returns in case the book becomes a best seller, and in reality take most if not all rights
from the author. Most new writers are so exuberant about being published, they fail to read the fine print, much to their dismay
if their book becomes a hit.
American Binding & Publishing has a simple contract. We ask for just a simple agreement that gives us permission to
publish and sell the author's book on our web store. We are from the old school where a simple handshake or a person's word
is a binding agreement.
We make no wild or deceitful promises up front. We only guarantee to treat your book with professional respect, help you as
much as we can toward your success, and keep you in the family files as long as you want.
We have guidelines that are used only to make formatting manuscripts to our printers an easier task. The guidelines are
available upon request. We do not change any wording in submitted manuscripts, but we may make suggestions to make the book more
professional. In the final analysis, we like to think of writing as a business, one in which the writer wants to make money. As a
business, each writer should approach this area as any good businessman with an eye on distribution and marketing. We depend on
the writer to fulfill this task, our only involvement other than posting the authors name and title of the book on our site is to
publish a professional book.
